Because we're not talking medical grade compression, there's really no standard test or agreed upon scale we can cite to help you understand exactly how the leggings will feel. We did design them with the intent that they would provide a level of compression equivalent to maybe a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10, the 1 being equivalent to naked and 10 being equivalent to shapewear so tight you're concerned about damaging organs. Basically, they are meant to provide some support, but the hope is that you won't feel uncomfortably squished. That being said, we acknowledge that everyone will feel and experience things differently and will likely have different preferences when it comes to compression.

Fun story. My best friend typically takes a size 14 pant to my 24. We have opposite compression preferences: she hates it, I love it. We take the same size in these leggings!

The point of that little anecdote is just to say that the fabric and the design of the leggings offer a significant level of flexibility when it comes to preferred fit. We think the Expanse leggings are pretty great, but as inclusive as we tried to be when developing them, we understand that they won’t be for everyone. We’re bummed they didn’t work for you, but we’re happy to take them back as long as they are returned unworn and in a re-sellable state (clean, no heavy perfumes, original tags/packaging, etc.). Expanse will cover return shipping within the US and a similar policy to our flat rate shipping policy will apply for international returns. Expanse offers free ground shipping for US orders via the USPS. To make things as fair as possible for international orders, our flat rate prices to the rest of the world reflect a discount roughly equivalent to the cost of US shipping—”roughly” because the cost varies slightly depending on where domestic packages are going. Our baseline international delivery costs were determined using the USPS rates we paid to ship internationally during the fulfillment stage of our Kickstarter.
